MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The injury bug has hit the Milwaukee Brewers hard and forced more roster moves on Tuesday.
Manny Pina suffered a fractured big toe in Mondays game and was placed on the 10 day IL. Also Daniel Robertson was placed on the 7 day concussion list after being beaned in the head on Sunday.
The Brewers brought up catcher Luke Maile and outfielder Corey Ray to replace them. They also brought up pitcher Patrick Weigel and sent Phil Bickford back to the alternate training site. Weigel had been acquired in the Orlando Arcia trade.
The Brewers already have Brett Anderson, Josh Lindblom, Jace Peterson Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich and Derek Fisher on the 10 day IL.
They also have Justin Topa, Bobby Wahl, Tim Lopes and Mark Mathias on the 60 day IL.
Craig Counsell also announced that Zack Godley would start Wednesday afternoon. He will be brought up from the alternate training site and will need to be placed on the 40 man roster. The Brewers will have to remove someone to make room for Godley. He was signed during spring training after pitching for Boston last season.
