WAUTOMA, WI (WSAU) — A man charged with a count of homicide by negligence will not have to stand trial.
A competency hearing was held on Friday morning for 77-year-old Carl Mullenix. Mullenix is accused of fatally hitting 6-year-old Maryana Kranz as she went to get on the school bus in Plainfield in February of 2020. Mullenix was deemed not fit to stand trial after failing his competency exam before the hearing on Friday.

Due to Mullenix being found not competent to stand trial, the court ordered the dismissal of the charges. Mullenix was facing two charges of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving-causing bodily harm.
