MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A pair of grand slams capped off an 18-hit, 16-run performance by the LA Dodgers as they took Sunday’s series finale against the Brewers in Milwaukee 16-4.
AJ Pollock cleared the bases in the first inning to set the tone. Matt Beaty also belted a four-run blast in the second, his first home run of the year.
Pollock added a three-run tater in the 6th as well, part of a three-hit day at the office.
Jacob Nottingham hit a solo homer in the third to get Milwaukee on the board, then added another tw0 run round-tripper in the 8th. Avisail Garcia followed that with an RBI base hit to score Billy McKinney.
Nottingham and Garcia were the only Brewer batters to record multiple hits in the game.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Brewers didn’t burn through much in the way of pitching. Alec Bettinger was able to eat up four innings in the start, allowing 11 hits and 11 earned runs. He also served up both grand slams. From there Jordan Zimmermann took over for 3.2 innings allowing five earned runs and five hits. Patrick Weigel recorded the final four outs of the game.
Bettinger was tagged with the loss.
Milwaukee is now 17-11 on the season and remains in first place in the NL Central. They’ll head out for their first east-coast road trip of the season on Monday in Philadephia for the first of three against the Phillies. Pre-game coverage on WSAU begins at 5:30 PM.
