STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP baseball team swept a doubleheader from UW-Oshkosh on Friday at Zimmerman Field. The scores were 10-5 and 4-2.
With the victories the Pointers secured one of the top two seeds in the WIAC. They will finish in the top 2 in the conference for the first time since 2013 and the 25 wins so far are the most since 2011.
Wausau West grad Payton Nelson had a home run among three hits and had 5 RBIs. Tommy Duddleston had a four hit day including a home run.
Wisconsin Rapids grad Caleb Krommenakker earned his fourth win of the year with six innings of work. SPASH grad JD Schultz pitched six innings in a game 2 win.
The Pointers, now 25-8, will play another doubleheader today in Oshkosh.
The UWSP softball team swept a doubleheader from UW-Stout on Friday in Menominee. The scores were 8-5 and 9-2.
Becca Geiyer had five hits on the day along with 4 RBIs. Maddie Candre had a five hit day as well which included a home run. Luren Luedtke and Sammy Buerger had four hits each.
Makenna Tkach picked up her 16th win of the season in game one. Allie Meyers won game two.
The Pointers conclude the regular season with a record of 22-15, 8-6 in WIAC and await the conclusion of the conference season today to determine seedings and matchups for Tuesday’s first round of the WIAC Tournament.
