MIAMI, FL (WSAU) — The Brewers once again took advantage of the international tiebreaker rule in a 2-1 ten-inning win over Miami to close out an east coast road trip on Sunday.
The two sides went into the 10th locked at 1 each after a pair of solo home runs in regulation. Milwaukee struck first in the 4th when Daniel Vogelbach hit his 3rd round-tripper of the season; Miami countered in the 7th when Lewis Brinson hit his second of the year.
Then with two outs and placed runner Pablo Reyes at second Vogelbach was intentionally walked to bring up Tyrone Talyor who laced a single to left scoring Reyes and giving the Brewers the lead heading to the bottom of the 10th.
Brinson would be Miami’s placed runner in their half, he made it as far as 3rd base before Miguel Rojas would ground out to end the game.
Taylor and Travis Shaw led the Brewers with two hits each in the game. Milwaukee burned through seven pitchers in the game including starter Brett Anderson who ate up three innings before turning the game over to the bullpen. J.P Feyereisen was charged with a blown save after giving up the 7th inning homer to Brinson.
Josh Hader would be credited with the win for pitching a perfect 9th to send the game to extras. Drew Rasmussen earned the save.
The Brewers finish a week-long east coast road trip with a 2-5 record. Monday will be an off day for the Crew as they return to American Family Field on Tuesday to start a set against the Cardinals.
