STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Residents in a northern Stevens Point neighborhood will have their lives disrupted by street construction this summer.
Beginning Monday workers will tear up the roads in the area of 5th Avenue and First Street. This also includes work on Bukolt Avenue, Forest Street, West Street, and Fredrick Street.
The project includes street reconstruction and the replacement of some utility lines. Sidewalks will also be replaced and in some cases added through the project as well.
Property owners that did not previously have sidewalks may be given a special assessment for the project. Those property owners will be notified by the city. According to the website for the project, there will be no special assessments tacked on for the street work.
The city has given flyers to those residents that are impacted and is also online. That includes a detailed map of project phases and a list of frequently asked questions sheet which can be found here.
