WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — More information is being sought on a dog bite over the weekend.
According to a Facebook post from the Marathon County Health Department, a woman in her early 60’s was bitten by a dog at the bottom of Rib Mountain on Saturday morning. The Health Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the dog to determine the dog’s rabies vaccination status.
The dog is described as a possible Australian Cattle dog or Blue Heeler that is medium to large in size. The owner of the dog was a young woman estimated to be in her 20’s that was with another young woman who was walking a Bernedoodle dog.
The two women were part of a larger group that was near the bottom of the hill. The victim had stopped to pet the Bernedoodle and talk to the women. When the victim held out their hand to the other dog, the dog immediately bit her.
The victim left to go seek medical assistance for the bite wound. She called out to the owner asking if the dog was up to date on their rabies vaccinations. The owner answered the dog was but no information was exchanged between the two to verify the information.
The owner of the dog or anyone who knows who the dog belongs to is asked to contact the Marathon County Health Department at 715-261-1908.
