MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Brewers offense struggled again and the pitching finally faltered in the 11th inning as St Louis grabbed game one of the three game series 6-1 on Tuesday night at American Family Field.
Travis Shaw gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the 6th inning. The Cardinals tied it in the 8th with a sac fly.
It stayed that way until the 11th, when St Louis got a two-run homer from Paul Goldschmidt and a three run blast from Tyler O’Neill.
Milwaukee loaded the bases in their half of the 11th but followed with three straight strikeouts. They left 12 men on base in ther game and were just 1-15 with men in scoring position.
The Brewers wasted a great outing from Freddy Peralta who went seven innings, allowing no runs on one hit with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Milwaukee is now 19-17 and will host St. Louis again tonight. Brandon Woodruff on the mound. You can hear the game on WSAU at 6:05.
Milwaukee also announced that Corbin Burnes would from the IL to start on Thursday afternoon.
