WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man identified in a late April incident involving a stolen police car has entered his plea.
Jonothan Bishop, 29, was in court Wednesday, May 5th for a preliminary hearing. Bishop is facing multiple felony charges including possession of meth, escaping criminal arrest, fleeing an officer, and three counts of taking and driving a vehicle without the consent of the owner. All of those charges also carry repeater modifiers.
At the hearing, Bishop was bound over for arraignment and trial by the court after probable cause was found a crime had been committed. He then entered not guilty pleas to the 8 charges Bishop is facing.
Bishop is accused of breaking into a home in Rothschild. When he was taken into custody for the break-in, Bishop was able to maneuver his way from the back seat of the police car to the driver’s seat. Bishop then took off with the car, abandoning it in a backyard on Southridge Drive.
