STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP softball team advanced with a first round win in the WIAC Tournament. They topped UW-La Crosse 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Makenna Tkach was the story on the mound for the Pointers. She pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts.
Sammy Buerger had two RBIs for the Pointers.
UWSP advances to the semi-finals of the tournament for the first times since 2009. They play at UW-Whitewater on Thursday.
The UWSP baseball team hosts UW-Platteville in a doubleheader at Zimmerman Field at 1pm this afternoon.
