MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Once again Milwaukee Brewers pitching held the opposing team down and this time the Brewers offense came through with three runs in the 8th inning for a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night at American Family Field.
Daniel Vogelbach reached first base safely after a wild pitch strikeout. Travis Shaw drove in pinch runner Pablo Reyes with a double. Avisail Garcia then hit a two run homer.
Brandon Woodruff was brilliant again. He pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up one run on three hits. He struck out 10 and walked one. Devin Williams picked up the win in relief and Josh Hader pitched the ninth for his eighth save.
The Brewers are now 20-17 and and face the Cardinals this afternoon. Corbin Burnes returns to the mound for Milwaukee. Pre game show at 12:05 on WSAU.
