WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Following approval from health regulators earlier this week many COVID-19 vaccination clinics in the region will begin offering Pfizer shots to those ages 12-15.
Marathon County’s community vaccination site at Northcentral Technical College will take walk-in appointments for the shots. Hours for the clinic are 11 AM to 7 PM every Tuesday through Saturday. Appointments can be made online if desired.
Marshfield Clinic Health System is also making the vaccine available to those over the age of 12 as of today. Information on how to schedule your shot can be found online including via walk-in or by appointment. Those without internet access can call 1-877-998-0880
Parental consent is required so all minors must either be accompanied by a parent or provide a consent form. For those getting vaccinated at Marshfield Clinic, the form can be found by clicking here.
According to Marshfield Clinic, no safety concerns were found for up to eight weeks following vaccination of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in more than 1,100 adolescents (12-15 years of age) during the phase 3 clinical trial. These results are comparable to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial results for older populations. More than 130 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine have now been administered safely in the U.S.
It should be noted that at this time the Pfizer vaccine is the only one approved for those between the ages of 12 and 15.
