MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers got another quality start from Brandon Woodruff and held off a San Diego rally to beat the Padres 5-3 on Monday night at American Family Field.
Woodruff pitched seven shutout innings allowing just three hits and no walks with eight strikeouts.
The Brewers built a 5-0 lead in the game. Avisail Garcia homered for the 2nd straight day, a two run shot. Manny Pina also had a two run homer. Kolten Wong had the other RBI.
The Padres scored three times in the 8th including a two run homer from Tommy Pham off Angel Perdomo. Josh Hader was able to close it out for his 11th save.
The Brewers recalled Keston Hiura from AAA Nashville before the game and he was in the starting lineup at first base. He went 1-3 and scored a run.
The Brewers move back over .500 at 24-23. The two teams play again tonight with Corbin Burnes on the mound for Milwaukee. Pre game at 6:05 on WSAU.
