WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The State of Wisconsin has moved to dismiss its case against Travis Greil, the former D.C. Everest teacher accused of taking upskirt photos of students using a strategically placed iPad as they were interacting with him at his desk.
Greil was in Marathon County court on Thursday where the prosecution announced plans to drop the charges since Greil has pled guilty to federal charges as part of a plea deal. A calendar call was then scheduled for early September to finalize the written stipulation.
The 39-year-old had been charged with nearly 40 counts stemming from accusations that he would use the camera on his iPad to secretly record images underneath the skirts of female students, a practice known as “upskirting.” Investigators found at least 130 such images and videos on the device taken over five years.
A student approached law enforcement about her suspicions in February of 2020, saying other students also had suspicions and that they were not comfortable around Greil. He later admitted to taking the images when confronted by police.
Sentencing in the federal case is set for August 12th and 13th in US District Court in Madison.
