WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau residents can expect a detour Tuesday morning on their way to work.
According to a web update from Wausau Opportunity Zone Inc. (WOZ) there will be periodic closures of 5th Street and Washington Street Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon. The closures will be for construction crews to take down the east side of the Sears building in downtown Wausau.
A flagger will be on-site to direct traffic and stop vehicles briefly or to reroute vehicles around the Wausau Center Mall if needed. The construction team anticipates the brief closures to be a minor inconvenience on Tuesday.
Wausau Opportunity Zone purchased the Wausau Center Mall in February of 2020 from its former owners Rialto Capital Management. Plans for the property include an urban hub with housing, boutique retail, hospitality, and gathering spaces.
