WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau man accused of shooting another man in mid-May has been bound over for trial and has also requested a new judge to oversee the proceedings.
Michael Turner was bound over for trial on Tuesday by a judge for attempted first-degree homicide and being a felony in possession of a firearm.
Charges stem from a May 15th incident during which Turner is said to have approached a car in the area of Thomas Street and First Avenue and shot the driver. He’s then said to have handed the gun off to someone else before fleeing Wausau.
He was arrested in Marquette County later in the day when officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop.
Turner did not enter a plea on Tuesday. Following the appearance representatives for Turner filed a formal request for a substitution of the judge in the case.
He returns to court on June 16th for a calendar call.
