Michael Turner
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man will likely be facing a more serious charge for a May shooting.
According to a press release from the Wausau Police Department, an amended charge is being recommended for 45-year-old Michael Turner. Turner was initially charged with attempted 1st-degree homicide for a May 15th shooting incident.
Turner is accused of approaching a car in the area of Thomas Street and First Avenue and shot the driver. He’s then said to have handed the gun off to someone else before fleeing Wausau. The victim remained in the hospital in critical condition since the incident and passed away on June 2nd.
Due to the death of the victim, Wausau Police are requesting that Turner be charged with 1st-degree intentional homicide instead of attempted 1st-degree homicide. The Department expects the amended charge to be brought before the court at a future hearing.
Turner remains in custody on a $1 million bond and returns to court on June 16th for a calendar call.
