MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — Add Merrill to the list of communities that are bringing back their Independence Day fireworks show after a year off.
City Administrator David Johnson announced on Monday that the community show would return to the Merrill Recreation Center Sunday, July 4th.
“It’ll be the normal, outdoor fireworks display,” said Johnson. “It’ll take place at dusk, but anytime you want to get there to get a good spot that’s up to you.”
Johnson says there will be no amenities on the ground besides what’s already there. But, if you’d like to bring lawn games, you’re more than welcome to. “There are things on the grounds like volleyball and baseball or anything you want to do on the lawn like bocce ball or croquet- anything you want”
The show will start at dusk. Families are encouraged to get their early for the best seats.
Johnson adds that he’s been promised that this year’s show will be “bigger and better” than their last one in 2019.
Many communities called off their fireworks shows due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak last year.
