WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — For the first time since early September 2020, there are fewer than 100 known, active COVID-19 cases in Marathon County.
According to DHS data released on Tuesday, there were 72 active cases in the county. That’s the first time that number has fallen below triple digits since September 4th. Additionally, all surrounding counties are reporting fewer than 25 active cases.
Wood County currently shows 20 active cases. Portage is at nine, and many others including Clark, Taylor, Oneida, and Langlade are also showing fewer than ten cases.
Two Northwoods counties- Forest and Price- have no known active cases.
Numbers have gradually declined over the last few weeks as vaccine rates have climbed above 40%.
