COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (WSAU) — Multiple reports indicate that Milwaukee Bucks F Khris Middleton and G Jrue Holiday will don the Red, White, and Blue this summer at the Olympic Games.
Middleton’s agent tells ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that both he and Cleveland Cavilers F Kevin Love will be added to the United State’s 12-man roster for the games. Other NBA stars that have committed to playing include Brooklyn’s James Harden and Kevin Durant, Portland’s Damien Lillard, and Golden State’s Draymond Green.
The United States begins pool play in the Tokyo Games on July 25th against France.
Eight of the 12 Olympic Basketball places have been claimed. The USA is in Group A with France, Iran, and the winner of a last-chance qualifier to be played in Canada over the next few weeks. That six-nation tournament includes Canada and Greece.
Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn’t announced if he will play for the Greeks should they qualify. Had the Bucks been eliminated in the previous rounds of the NBA playoffs, he would have had the option to join them for the qualifying tournament in British Columbia.
