MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Atlanta Hawks got 48 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds from Trae Young as they beat the Milwaukee Bucks 116-113 to take game one of the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.
Both team struggled from three point range to start the game but the Bucks took a 59-54 lead into halftime. Young had 37 points by the end of the 3rd period as the Hawks took an 88-85 lead.
The Bucks were down one with 29 seconds left and Pat Connaughton missed a wing three. Young then hit two free throws for the final margin.
Giannis had a big night for Milwaukee with 34 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Jrue Holiday added 33 points and 10 assists. Khris Middleton had 15 and Bobby Portis 11.
Game 2 is set for Friday night in Milwaukee.
