WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Terry Caspersen, Wisconsin’s longest-serving prison inmate, has been denied a parole hearing as he continues to serve time for the murder of a Wausau teen.
Caspersen, 78, is serving a life sentence for killing Eleanor Kaatz. Police say she was stabbed nearly 50 times but initially survived the attack. Her body was found along the Wisconsin River in Wausau, but she later died at a local hospital.
Kaatz was 18 at the time of her death. Caspersen has served over 55 years in prison after he was found guilty of stabbing her in the late 1960s.
The state Department of Corrections says Caspersen has not met any of the requirements to qualify for parole. His next possible eligibility date would be March of 2022.
