WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of fatally stabbing a woman will be in jail on a 7-figure bond.
David Morris, 43, was in Marathon County Circuit Court for his first appearance on Friday afternoon. Morris is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly fatally stabbing Renee Hindes on April 23rd inside a Weston apartment.

According to court records, Hindes called because of Morris’ behavior. When police arrived and knocked on the door, they say Morris told them there was no reason for law enforcement to be there and he was just boiling silverware. After several attempts to speak to Morris, police say they began to hear screaming inside the apartment and tried to force their way in. They eventually used a sledgehammer to get in.
Police say when they got the door open Morris ran directly at them with a large knife. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says officers discharged their weapons, hitting Morris. He was then taken to the hospital to recover from the wounds.
At his initial appearance, a Marathon County Judge set Morris’ bond at $1,000,000 cash with several conditions including no contact with Hindes family and no weapons of any kind. Morris will return to court on August 26th for a preliminary hearing. Morris is expected to waive his right to a preliminary hearing at that court date.
