CHICAGO, ILL (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers withstood a heat index of 107 and a long storm delay as they swept a doubleheader over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday.
The scores were 4-2 and 6-3.
In game one Freddy Peralta picked up the win with 5 1/3 innings. He gave up two runs on five hits and struck out eight. Devin Williams picked up the save. Avi Garcia hit his 20th home runs and Willy Adames his 21st, both in the 4th inning. Lorenzo Cain went deep with a solo shot in the 6th.
In game 2 rookie starter Aaron Ashby was removed after only 23 pitches when the skies opened up and the teams had to wait out a rain delay of an hour and a half. Reliever John Curtiss then was removed shortly after with elbow discomfort. The Brewers ended up using seven pitchers in the game with Miguel Sanchez getting the win and Brent Suter the save.
Milwaukee scored six times in the 6th inning. Jackie Bradley Jr, Christian Yelich, Omar Narvaez, Eduardo Escobar, Rowdy Tellez and Luis Urias all had RBIs in the inning.
Milwaukee is now 68-46 overall and will face the Cubs again tonight…pre game show at 6:30 on WSAU.
