High speed chase (Midwest Communications)
MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) — A Taylor County man is in the Wood County jail, after leading officers from Marshfield to Clark County on a high-speed chase that ended shortly before four o-clock this morning.
The pursuit began just before eight o’clock Wednesday evening when Marshfield police initiated a traffic stop in the 16-hundred block of South Central Avenue. When the vehicle pulled over, a woman got out, and the driver – a 44-year-old Medford man – took off at a high rate of speed.
The man led officers into Clark County, where he crashed his vehicle in a ditch on Highway “K” near Pine Lane after spike strips were deployed by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, and after a pursuit intervention technique was performed by a Marshfield Police Officer. The man then fled on foot, but he was taken into custody after a short pursuit.
No injuries were reported, and the suspect was medically cleared at the Marshfield Medical Center. The man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender, reckless endangerment, and drug possession. He now faces charges of fleeing an officer and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.
Those charges have been requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office. The suspect’s name will not be released until he is formally charged.
