MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The University of Wisconsin has posted schedules for early-season matchups in both men’s hockey and men’s basketball on its official website.
The men’s basketball season will begin October 29th with an exhibition game against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at the Kohl Center. Tip-off time is TBA. Regular season play begins November 9th against St. Francis College of Brooklyn, NY, a member of the Northeast Conference. UW Green Bay comes to town on November 12th before the Gavitt Tipoff against Providence on November 15th. The Badgers will then fly to Hawaii for the Maui Jim Maui Invitational the week of November 22nd where their first-round opponent will be Texas A&M.
Other non-conference home dates will feature Marquette, Illinois State, and Morgan State. Wisconsin’s Big Ten slate has yet to be released.
Men’s hockey will drop the puck on the 2021-’22 season on October 8th with the first of two games against Michigan Tech in Madison. That series concludes the next day, October 9th. The following weekend the Badgers will host Army West Point for two on the 15th and 16th.
Wisconsin will also play St. Cloud State for two at home and host the USA Hockey Under-18 national team for an exhibition game. They’ll also participate in the inaugural Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee featuring Yale, Providence, and Bowling Green.
Details of the Big Ten men’s hockey schedule are still being ironed out. Last year’s schedule consisted of conference-only games with Division I independent Arizona State playing the school that was on a bye that week.
The Badger women’s hockey schedule has been announced in full. Their season begins on September 24th with a weekend set against Lindenwood of Missouri. WCHA play begins October 9th with two games at home against St. Cloud State. The Badger’s first dual with conference newcomer University of St. Thomas (MN) is November 20th.
