TOWN OF GROVER, WI (WSAU) — Charges are expected in connection with a rollover crash that killed one person and injured two others in Taylor County on Saturday.
The crash happened along County Road M near Sailor Creek Road in the Town of Grover. According to investigators, the driver of the vehicle was driving fast, possibly at more than 100 MPH, westbound on M when they approached a curve in the road. A backseat passenger was unresponsive and still in the vehicle when first responders arrived. They performed CPR on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
He’s been identified as 20-year-old Hunter J. Ried of Medford.
Names of the other passenger and driver have been withheld as the investigation continues. Officials haven’t said what charges they may bring against the driver. Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the incident.
Officers said the crash was initially reported as an ATV accident but upon arrival, they discovered that the vehicle was instead a Mini Cooper.
