GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — For at least one night, the Packers were Kurt Benkert’s team.
The former Atlanta Falcons practice squad player took the majority of the snaps in a 23-14 preseason loss to the New York Jets following a week of combined practices between the sides in Green Bay.
Benkert finished 18/25 for 151 yards and one touchdown in the loss. That touchdown toss went to Jace Sternberger in the second quarter to cap off a 19-play, 96-yard drive. Kylin Hill added a 12-yard rushing touchdown in the first half as well.
Top pick Zach Wilson didn’t see the field for the Jets in the win. Mike White and James Morgan split time under center.
Matt Ammendola finished the game 3/3 on field-goal attempts and also nailed both of his extra points.
The Packers conclude the three-game preseason schedule Saturday, August 28th against the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. Pregame coverage begins at 10 AM on WSAU.
