MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Four Milwaukee Brewer pitchers combined to strikeout 16 Cincinnati Reds in a 4-1 win on Wednesday night at American Family Field.
Brandon Woodruff struck out 10 in a six inning start. He allowed just four hits and no runs with no walks. Brad Boxberger and Devin Williams followed with scoreless innings before the Reds broke through with a solo homer from Nick Castellanos off Jake Cousins in the 9th.
The Brewer RBIs came from Avi Garcia (who also contributed some stellar defense), Luis Urias and Jace Peterson.
The Brewers now have a 9 1/2 game lead on the Reds, their biggest lead of the season so far. The two teams play this afternoon with the pre-game show at 12:35 on WSAU.
