WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Watch your speed if you’re driving along Highway 29 Thursday in Marathon County.
The State Patrol has announced they are conducting aerial speed enforcement through the use of a helicopter and officers on the ground along the busy highway.
The enforcement involves officers in the air observing drivers using aggressive tactics along the highway while also clocking speed using a VASCAR device. Those officers can then radio to colleagues on the ground who will attempt a traffic stop.
Similar aerial enforcement was recently conducted along US 51 in Lincoln County and is scheduled for Friday along US 53 in Douglas County.
