INDIANOLA, IOWA (WSAU) — The UWSP football team ran their record to 2-0 with a 34-7 win over Simpson on Saturday afternoon.
The Pointers rushed for 311 yards and outgained the Storm 527-187 on offense.
Max Herro threw two touchdown passes and punter Carter Unger threw one as well. Devin Baldridge, Joe Hare and Kameron Kryzanski caught touchdowns.
Vercion Gammel had 127 yards on 19 carries. Seth Forbes and Jermaine Moore Jr. had rushing TDs.
The Pointers will host UW-Stout in the annual Pink Game for Cancer this Saturday at 2pm.
The UWSP womens soccer team split a pair of matches this weekend. The beat Coe College 3-0 on Saturday and dropped a 3-2 score to Luther on Sunday.
Jacqueline Aleman, Hannah Kroupa and Olivia Piloni had the goals Saturday. Miranda Nieman neede only two saves for the shutout.
On Sunday Shea-Lynn Gerred and Gabby Dunn had the goals.
The Pointers head out for a four match road trip to Texas beginning on Friday against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The UWSP volleyball team ran it’s winning streak to five with wins over Minnesota-Morris and St. Marys on Saturday.
Freshman Ashley Kopp had double-doubles in both matches. Wausau West grad Grace Michalske had 25 assists in the win over UMM.
The Pointrers will host UW-Platteville in the conference opener on Wednesday at 7pm at Berg Gym.
The UWSP womens tennis team is off to an 8-0 start, a program best, after posting a trio of wins on Saturday.
They beat Lawrence, Ripon and UW-Superior.
The Pointers head to Menominee to face UW-Stout on Wednesday.
