STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Superintendent of the Stevens Point school district is planning to retire at the end of this school year.
The school board accepted the resignation of Craig Gerlach at their Monday night meeting. The board also approved a plan to offer the position to Cory Hirsbrunner as of July 1, 2022.
Gerlach has been the Superintendent of the district since 2016. According to a press release he had planned to retire at the end of 2020 but stayed on during the pandemic.
School Board President Meg Erler said in the release, “that we are grateful he was willing to stay with us during this difficult period providing steady leadership for out community”.
