DETROIT, MI (WSAU) — The Brewers will enter their Thursday off-day on a rare two-game losing streek after a 4-1 setback to Detroit on Wednesday.
The Brewer’s offense mustered just three hits lead by a double from Lorenzo Cain and singles from Jace Peterson and Luis Urias.
Cain’s second-inning double produced the lone run of the game for the Brewers, bringing home Peterson who had singled earlier in the inning.
Brandon Woodruff took the loss in six innings. He allowed three earned runs off four hits while issuing just one walk and striking out seven.
The Brewers will be off on Thursday, they’ll begin an extended homestand on Friday against the Cubs for the first of three. They follow that with four games against St. Louis and three against the New York Mets.
As of Wednesday evening the Brewers magic number to clinch the NL Central title remains five.
