MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Bucks filled a key media role on Wednesday, naming Lisa Byington to fill the television play-by-play role. She replaces Jim Paschke who retired after last season.
Byington becomes the first full-time female play by play announcer for a major men’s professional sports team.
Byington comes to the role with a lot of experience. She has called men’s basketball games including the NCAA Tournament for CBS and Turner Sports. She has also called college football on the Big Ten Network.
Byington will join Marques Johnson on the broadcasts. Zora Stephenson remains as sideline reporter and Steve Novak will work on the broadcasts as well.
The Bucks still have not announced a new radio voice as they need to replace Ted Davis as well. The regular season begins October 19th.
