GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — The Green Bay Packers have placed linebacker Za’Darius Smith on injured reserve with a back injury.
Packer coach Matt LaFleur made the announcement on Friday. He said they would rather have him rehab and come back so he wouldn’t have to be as limited as he is now. Smith played only 18 snaps against the Saints.
Smith has been battling the back problem since training camp. He must now sit out at least three weeks but the Packers can keep him on the injured reserve list as long as they want.
To fill his spot on the roster the team signed linebacker Ladarius Hamilton from the Tampa Bay practice squad.
