WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau School Board will hold a special meeting on Monday regarding COVID-19.
The board will hear a presentation on current strategies along with recommended levels of action regarding responses to increases in cases.
According to the presentation, officials are recommending four different levels of mitigation against the spread of COVID-19 at secondary schools. The strategies range from optional masking and self-checking of symptoms at level one to mandatory masking for all students and staff for seven days at level four.
Other steps in between would include a possible pause on non-essential visitors and volunteers in schools and a re-evaluation of large events such as assemblies.
According to the proposal, the district would not attempt a return to virtual learning for secondary students unless recommended by the County Health Department.
The presentation adds that there’s no interest in sending elementary students back to virtual learning as well.

Discussion and possible action on the plan is the only item on Monday’s agenda. Public comment is not on the agenda.
