DEKALB, ILL (WSAU) — The Wisconsin volleyball team finished up their non-conference schedule at 8-0 after a sweep of UWGB on Friday and Northern Illinois on Saturday.
Friday it was the freshman duo of Julia Orzol and Anna Smrek who did the damage. Orzol led all hitters with a career high 14 kills and Smrek was perfect in her first start with six kills on six attempts.
Dana Rettke added 12 kills and five blocks. Lauren Barnes had 16 digs and Sydney Hilley had 39 assists.
On Saturday the freshman did the job again. Lauren Jardine had a career high 14 kills while Orzol had eight kills and three service aces. Smrek had eight kills.
Rettke led Wisconsin with a .667 hitting percentage and Hilley had 34 assists.
The Badgers will start Big Ten play on Friday at Maryland and Saturday at Rutgers.
