MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers offense continues to sputter as they dropped a 5-2 game with St. Louis on Monday night at American Family Field.
The Brewers managed only three hits, two of them home runs, as they lost their 2nd straight and fourth out of their last six games.
The Cardinals had won 9 straight and have a solid hold on the 2nd National League Wild Card. They still trail the Brewers by 10 1/2 games in the Central and the Brewers magic number to clinch the division is still 3.
The Brewers got solo homers from Avi Garcia and Luis Urias in 2nd inning to tie the game after the Cards struck for two in the first against Freddy Peralta. St. Louis added single runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings.
Freddy Peralta gave up three runs and took the loss to drop to 9-5 on the year.
The two teams face off again tonight with Brandon Woodruff going for Milwaukee. Pre-game show at 6:05 on WSAU.
