MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — After a short off-season the Milwaukee Bucks are back to defend their NBA Championship. The team’s players and front office staff met with reporters on Monday ahead of the team’s training camp opening today..
Among the nuggets gleaned from the sessions…Giannis is vaccinated but still has some residual knee pain from the injury suffered in the playoffs.
Owner Marc Lasry said the team is “mostly” vaccinated. Giannis said he did it to protect his young family.
He had said earlier in an interview that his knee was still ‘hurting’. He said on Monday that he “will continue to do his treatment and will manage it. He said that it’s early and he doesn’t have to play through pain now.”
Coach Mike Budenholzer spoke on his contract extension and said “I love it here and am very appreciative of the extension” GM Jon Horst said Budenholzer helped “set a culture and a tone to the organization” and the team saw it as an incredible opportunity to keep an intregal part of the Bucks success.
Horst also said changes to the roster make them “better in a different way”. The Bucks new players going into the season include Grayson Allen, George Hill, Rodney Hood, Semi Ojeleye and their two draft picks Sandro Mamukelashvili and Georgios Kalaitzakis.
