LOS ANGELES, CA (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers are heading into the Postseason on the heels of a 1-5 road trip after Sunday’s 10-3 loss to the LA Dodgers at Chavez Ravine.
Avisail Garcia gave Milwaukee a brief 1-0 lead with a fourth-inning double that brought home Rowdy Tellez. The home side countered with a six-run fifth inning to go ahead for good.
Milwaukee managed to get two back in the 8th on RBI doubles from Tellez and Eduardo Escobar.
Tellez was the only Brewer with multiple hits in the game. Willy Adames and Tyrone Taylor each recorded a double in the loss as well.
Milwaukee took the Johnny Wholestaff approach to the game- running eight different pitchers out over eight defensive innings starting with Brett Anderson who allowed one hit in the first. Jandel Gustave handled the next two innings and didn’t allow a hit or a walk while striking out two.
The Dodgers did the bulk of their damage off Aaron Ashby in the 5th. He was charged with all six runs that inning off of three hits and three walks.
Ashby was given both a blown save and the loss, dropping his record to 3-2 on the season. Walker Buehler picked up the win for LA.
With the rest of Sunday’s results in the book the Postseason bracket has been locked in with no tiebreaker games needed on Monday. In the American League the East Division dominates the top half of the bracket. The Yankees-Red Sox rivalry will get the Wildcard game spotlight on Tuesday at Fenway Park. The winner gets the Tampa Bay Rays in the best-of-five ALDS. The other series will have a rematch of the 2005 World Series with the Astros and White Sox facing off. Houston holds home-field advantage in that series.
In the Senior Circut, it’s the Cardinals at the Dodgers in the Wildcard on Wednesday with the winner facing the top-seeded San Francisco Giants. Milwaukee hosts the Atlanta Braves in the other NLDS. The schedule for the series is as follows, with game times to be assigned at a later date:
Game one- Friday, October 8th @ American Family Field
Game two- Saturday, October 9th @ American Family Field
Game Three- Monday, October 11th @ Truist Park
Game Four- Tuesday, October 12th @ Truist Park**
Game Five- Thursday, October 14th @ American Family Field**
