MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers announced, as expected, that Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff will pitch the first two games of the playoff series with Atlanta on Friday and Saturday at American Family Field.
Burnes said “The Braves are a good team and they played some good baseball at the end of the month to get into the postseason spot. I will treat this as a normal start and give it all I can.”
Burnes is considered a possible Cy Young Award winner after a stellar season. Woodruff is only 9-10 on the year because of little run support. He does have a 2.56 ERA that ranked in the top 5. he also has struck out 234 batters in just 167 innings.
Atlanta will start Charlie Morton on Friday and Max Fried on Saturday.
Devin Williams had successful surgery on his broken hand last Friday. He injured it when he punched a wall while drunk after the Brewers clinched the division on September 26th.
David Stearns said that Williams will be re-habbing in Arizona and he is expected to be available for the World Series should the Brewers advance that far.
The Brewers set a team record this season for the number of players used. Because of injuries, underperformace and a COVID19 outbreak, the team used 61 players.
Here is a list of all of the players the Brewers used compiled by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
