RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) — The Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport is coming into the 21st century when it comes to parking.
Airport Director Matthew Leitner says the facility is planning to install new a new parking system that will allow travelers to pay for their parking with a credit or debit card as they leave the terminal.
“Gone mostly now will be the yellow envelopes. We’ll have the gates much like any other commercial service airport where you pull up, you use credit card or we’ll have apps and electronic forms of payment,” Leitner told WXPR Radio in Rhinelander.
He says there will also be a station inside the terminal where users can pay cash. Four hours of parking will be free. After that prices will run seven dollars per night.
The system is being paid for in part with CARES Act funding.
The airport has seen some growth this summer with an uptick in passengers thanks to a new seasonal route between Rhinelander and Chicago in addition to the usual service to the Twin Cities.
