HILES, WI (WSAU-WAOW TV) — The NTSB has released a preliminary report into the fatal plane crash from late September.
Investigators say there was a transmission from the plane before it went down saying “mayday, mayday,mayday, we’re in a spin.”
The plane crashed and was destroyed near Hiles around 9am on September 28th. It had taken off from Rhinelander.
The report says the plane was being used to take aerial imagery of the forest vegetation for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
No cause was listed for the crash and the victims identities have not been released.
