SCHOFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The clock is ticking on residents’ time in the Hidden Lakes Estates mobile home community, where in early September, a Marathon County judge gave them 60 days’ notice that they had to move out.
Residents claim they were caught off guard by the notice and say they have been left in the dark since it was issued.
They also tell News 9 only a select few own their own trailers or have trailers that can be moved, making the process more challenging.
One resident says he’s exploring his options but is worried about the future and the well-being of his neighbors.
“This is a very stressful situation. We’re losing sleep. None of us are lazy people here, we’re just middle-to-low income folks trying to etch out a living like everyone else,” Travoi Tuttle said.
He also says he and his neighbors are running low on options because of high living costs.
“This is hard times for people. Nobody can find affordable housing. Most of us need rental homes because of our particular situations and things of that sort,” Tuttle said.

Residents have until November 8 before they have to be fully moved out.
Owners of the park, Wyoming-based Sustainable Resources, have not commented on the situation. They also own a park in Stevens Point where residents recently came within days of having their water shut off, which would have left their homes uninhabitable.

It’s not clear what the future holds for the Schofield park. Sustainable Resources will continue to own the land but will be unable to run it as a mobile home park without an operating license.
