MADISON, WI (WSAU) — US District Judge William Conley announced the sentencing for a Wisconsin Rapids man for one count of possession of meth with the intent to distribute.
Doua Moua will serve six years in federal prison for the charge. He was arrested following a traffic stop in December of 2020 which started as a routine stop for reckless driving and a cracked windshield. But when officers realized both Moua and his passenger, Zakaree Stelzer, had active warrants, they searched the vehicle and found a toolbox containing just over one pound of meth.
The 37-year-old Moua admitted that he had purchased the meth in Minnesota with intentions to sell it in the Wisconsin Rapids area.
Judge Conley noted that Moua was on active state supervision at the time of his arrest and that his drug trafficking activity had been “escalating.”
Moua had previously served a three-year sentence for distribution, which Conley added had failed to stop him from selling again.
Zakaree Stelzer has also been charged in the incident and pled guilty. He will be sentenced on November 22nd.
