WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The woman accused of killing her husband in 2006 did take the stand in her defense on Friday.
WAOW TV reports Cindy Schulz-Juedes opted to testify on Friday as the defense continued to build their case. Court records show she was sworn in at 11 AM. Court then recessed for lunch at noon, and her testimony continued into the afternoon.
Prosecutors have said Schulz-Juedes killed Ken Juedes for over $1 million in land and other assets including a life insurance policy- citing their shotgun wedding in Las Vegas and the amount of debt she had at the time. Her defense has brushed those accusations aside saying the windfall was a result of true love between the couple, and that another group of men was responsible for the killing.
The trial is scheduled to run through early November. Schulz-Juedes faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty in the case.
