GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers will likely be without some key pieces when they take on the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.
Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry tested positive for the disease on Monday and will not be on the sidelines or in the coaching both for the game, according to multiple NFL Network reports.
Per NFL policies Barry will be able to game plan for Thursday night through virtual means but will not be able to have contact with fellow coaches or players during the game.
Additionally, WR Davante Adams was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list on Monday. That puts his status for Thursday’s game in question as well.
Adams may be able to play if he is asymptomatic and produces two negative tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s unclear if Adams was a close contact with Barry.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the team has now been placed in enhanced COVID-19 mitigation meaning players will now face daily testing and masking in team facilities.
With a short work week and a game Thursday night vs. unbeaten Arizona, the Packers now have entered enhanced mitigation COVID protocols that call for daily testing and masks to be worn at the facility. https://t.co/5p4KoSRjna

The Packers have won six straight after falling to New Orleans on opening day. They’ll play the 7-0 Cardinals on the road on Thursday night.
On Monday the Chicago Bears also announced that their head coach Matt Nagy tested positive for COVID. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will be the acting head coach.
