MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — A person or group of people went on a pumpkin smashing spree in Marshfield over the weekend.
Police reported nearly ten incidents of mailboxes and other items being damaged by the flying squash, including two along W 14th street and two along Oak Avenue.
That included damage to mailboxes at the Eagles Club and Melody Gardens. In both cases, officers say it appears the pumpkin projectile came from a dark pickup traveling at a high rate of speed.
Both businesses have turned over security camera footage of the incident and are working with police to identify the truck.
Additionally, a wooden street barricade was broken at the intersection of Cypress and W 5th Street near the UWSP- Marshfield campus. Pumpkin remnants were found at that location as well.
Police don’t have any suspects at this time but in one of the reported incidents on McMillan Street, the victims said she saw a “loud, obnoxious truck” coming from the Wal-Mart parking lot just before her mailbox was hit with a pumpkin. It’s unclear if that’s the same truck from the Oak Avenue incidents.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Marshfield Police Department.
