STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP volleyball team locked up the three seed in the WIAC Tournament with a four set victory over UW-La Crosse.
Ashley Kopp had 22 kills on the night and added 15 digs for her 15th double-double of the sseason. Emma Peterson had 21 digs and Grace Michalske had 45 assists.
The Pointers, now 24-6, 4-3 in WIAC, will close out the regular season this afternoon against Carthage at Berg Gym. They will face Platteville in the first round of the WIAC Tournament on Tuesday night also in Stevens Point.
The UWSP mens hockey team opened the season with a 4-3 win Friday night at St. Norbert.
Jordan Fader had ther game winning goal in the 2nd period. The other Pointer goals went to Jake Theis, Nicholas Aromatario and Brett Humberstone.
Ryan Wagner had 21 saves for the Pointers.
The two teams will face off tonight at KB Willet in Stevens Point at 7pm.
The UWSP womens hockey team dropped their opener at St Olaf 5-4 in overtime Friday night.
Wausau West grad Lauren Wincentsen scored her first goal for the Pointers. The other goals went to Maike Zipp, Haley Sellers and Annika Horman.
Olivia Schultz had 27 saves for the Pointers.
The two teams will play again this afternoon in Northfield at 2pm.
