ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) – A person of interest in an Antigo homicide investigation is under arrest.
Derek Goplin, 38, was taken into custody in Racine County on Wednesday.
He was wanted for questioning in connection with the stabbing death of Susan Reese, 63. She was found dead in Antigo during a police welfare check on Monday.
Video surveillance at the property shows the victim and a child were outside the home. Video later shows a person of interest, Derek Goplin of Waukesha, leaving with the child.
The child, a 5-year-old, has since told police that “grandma tried to kill dad, and then dad stabbed grandma.” The child was found, unharmed, wandering at a nearby motel.
The motive for the stabbing is unknown.
Goplin will be transported back to Langlade County for questioning and an initial court appearance.
